Despite the close and current reality related to war, an element that has always accompanied human beings in their evolution, we bring you some good news. Before we go any further, the following holds us back: Isn’t it about time battlefields ceased to exist? What if wars and strategies were implemented in virtual reality games and only dealt with these force measurement issues in that context?
Now let’s move forward with questions related to our activity.
In the context of theater and puppetry this March we have many things to say and share!
1 . The summary of the warmup edition 2021 Motus Imago – Showcase of Puppets, Shapes and Things in Motion has already been released, for those who haven’t seen it, you can do it here. https://redcloudmarionetas.com/motus-imago/
We still don’t know when the next edition will be, however, there is a feeling that something good has started and that it can continue, let’s see what the future holds for this event!
2. We are preparing for the next tour, which will be at Teatro Sá da Bandeira, in Santarém. The show The Girl Who Sold Matches will go on stage. Who’s around don’t forget to book your spot! you can do it here https://www.santaremcultura.pt/index.php/programacao/379-a-menina-que-vendia-fosforos
It’s going to be very special, because it’s the first time we’re back to this show after the big interruption of the last two years…
3. These will also be days for cultural agents from Santarém to work, holding a special workshop for the construction and manipulation of puppets, based on the show. It will be incredible!
4. Next up is World Puppet Day, and spring, March 21st. We are preparing a surprise! Soon we will reveal… 🙂
5. Registration for activities to take place in April, in our Space, is now open. Don’t know yet? In April we opened our doors again to the general public, schools and other groups.
To do what?
Crossing traditional heritage and contemporary languages
Dom Roberto Theatre – traditional Portuguese puppet theatre, elevated in 2021 to Portuguese intangible cultural heritage. A timeless show, it is one of the forms of popular Portuguese puppet theatre that grew from the XVIII century onwards. Through the expansion of traveling companies. By the hands and swazzle of Sara Henriques, the robertos made by Rui Rodrigues come to life in the presentation of the two most acclaimed stories in Dom Roberto’s repertoire: O BARBERO and A TOURADA. It is a time to revive memories with the elders and share cultural heritage with the younger ones, in the important mission of disseminating and preserving a repertoire that is part of the Portuguese tradition.
Oh! But it doesn’t end here, whoever comes to see the show, in addition to getting to know a little more about this artistic genre, will have the opportunity to experience the technique of Stop Motion animation cinema, with the figures of the show… will this work? We will only know after trying it…
