We’re back with some exciting updates!
“Hansel e Gretel” at Red Cloud Marionetas space:
Between February 10 and 18, we hosted performances of “Hansel e Gretel” in our intimate venue for both the general public and school groups.
We adapted our latest creation to the Red Cloud Marionetas space, resulting in sessions with an intimate and engaging atmosphere.
During the school sessions, we were thrilled to welcome children who actively participated in the creative process of this show. We extend our sincere thanks to the school “EB1 das Barrocas” for their presence and collaboration throughout this process.
But Hansel and Gretel’s journey doesn’t end here!
The next stop is already scheduled: on May 4 and 5, we’ll be at Teatro Municipal Joaquim Benite in Almada.

Synopsis:
How do babies end up in the belly? What is this thread attached to the baby? What is it called? Does it help the baby hold on? And me, how was I born?
These and other questions are part of a child’s curiosity. A seed that grows and transforms.
A heart that beats.
Two arms that embrace the world.
Two eyes that open, and a song that is heard.
It’s the cord of life, the cord that tells your story and ours, accumulating stories from other lives. This cord has no end.

*Educational Service* | Workshop “Poética Das Coisas Que Se Movem em Conta Devagar” (PT’) | April 1-5, from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM
This educational service activity, lasting 5 days, is part of the creative process of our new creation, the show “Conta Devagar”, which will premiere in 2024.

About the workshop:
As part of the ideas and development of the upcoming show, participants will have the opportunity to create moving images around the themes of time, space, and origin, from various perspectives.
The result will be further developed to integrate the visual component of the show.
The techniques that will be explored in the workshop are stop-motion animation and frame-by-frame animation, for which participants will use objects, paintings, shapes, and various materials.
*Educational Service* | Masterclass “sobre o peso e a leveza” (PT’), with Eduarda Neves | April 27 at 4:00 PM
In another educational service initiative, we are honored to welcome Eduarda Neves for the masterclass “sobre o peso e a leveza” (“on weight and lightness”) This free event will take place both online and in-person, and will be interpreted in Portuguese Sign Language.

About the masterclass:
Based on Italo Calvino’s texts on weight and lightness, included in the work “Six Memos for the Next Millennium,” we will explore the importance of these notions for performative artistic practice.
Eduarda Neves — A graduate in Philosophy and a Ph.D. in Aesthetics, Eduarda Neves is an independent curator.She has presented exhibition projects in both national and international institutions. Her research and curatorial activities integrate the domains of art, philosophy, and politics. She is part of the Advisory Board of The New Centre for Research & Practice. Some of her published works were selected for the Pen Club award in the Essay category. “BESTIÁRIO MENOR. Tempo e Labirinto na arte contemporânea” (Lisbon: Barco Bêbado, 2022) will be published in English in 2024 by &&& Books (The New Centre, Berlin). A regular contributor to the magazine “Contemporânea,” she was the guest editor of the #7 of this publication in 2021, dedicated to photography in the field of visual arts.
