Fresh
All the preparations for the presentation of the show Bad Wolf in the various locations, until the end of the year, are culminating.
On November 7th we will be holding the first school session at Espaço Red Cloud Marionetas, in Aveiro. Along with these sessions, we will have a lot of conversation to pave the way for the Educational Service, for the understanding of what is the activity of Red Cloud Teatro de Marionetas in the scope of theater and puppetry. The sessions are almost all full, but for now, there are still a few available: November 9, 11, 15 and 16. The school appointment request must be made via email redmarionetas@gmail.com
Bookings for sessions aimed at the general public on November 3rd and 20th, at 4:00 pm, must be made through this form.
Reflective
On October 1st, as we mentioned in previous news, the Libert`arte project ended, in which Red Cloud Teatro de Marionetas participated as a collaborating member. Totally in our charge, it was the artistic creation of a Puppet Theater show. In this context, we developed a series of artistic creation activities with the prison community, which began in 2020, in the Prison Establishment (EP) of Aveiro. We developed several artistic aspects in the theater and puppetry spectrum, with adaptation and rewriting of the popular story “A Rosa e os Três Namorados”, construction of pole puppets, props and sets, sound design and improvisation.
The Red Cloud Teatro de Marionetas team, which we highlight here Rui Rodrigues, Joel and Sara Henriques, assumed the role of activator and facilitator throughout the process, in the sense that it provided knowledge, means and guidance for the realization of the work. , and the opinions and artistic decisions of inmates have always been extremely important.
Through cultural enjoyment, creation, construction, manipulation and practical exercises around theater and puppets, inmates had the opportunity to overcome barriers. They left their comfort zones and especially with their involvement, during the sessions, they left everyday life behind.
Since the initial phase of the project, we had difficulties in working in this context, however, these proved to be even greater, given the pandemic and the characteristics of the Aveiro EP itself, in the sense that it is above all a place of transition, where inmates await the future, that is, decisions about the sentences they will or will not have to serve. The fact that there is no adequate workspace for the development of artistic proposals also proved to be a difficulty, despite the positivity, involvement and willingness on the part of the operational and superior body of the Aveiro EP. It is important to mention that several inmates went through the project intermittently, so we always had as a priority to ensure that the process was evolving artistically, within these frameworks.
In this project, the proposal was essentially related to artistic making from within, without a usual hierarchical organization, but rather a “bottom-up” organization, in which we started the journey through a theme that served as sustenance for the development of “materials” coming from the prisoners themselves.
The process was undoubtedly the most important, thinking the group within the framework of the adequacy of the potential of each actor, characteristics, promoting positive sociability contexts and obviously taking into account vulnerability in emotional, social and economic issues.
In this context, we are very proud to once again, through art, give shape to a shared work that, we believe, has had a very positive impact on the lives of inmates. The final works within the scope of the Libert`arte project were presented in a set of 3 actions of which there was more theater and music developed by cultural agents from Aveiro. Tuna de Santa Joana was responsible for its implementation globally and was financed by DGArtes. Unfortunately, the presentation collided with a series of strikes by prison guards and for this reason, the presentation took place within the Aveiro EP for family and guests, and it was not possible to go out with the inmates to a concert hall and open doors to the general public.
For our part, we left to hover between the governing body of the EP of Aveiro and those responsible for the implementation how interesting would be the challenge of circulating the show through the various Prison establishments… Will it happen? 😉
Do we meet around here, over there or even there in a theater room?
Long live the Theater!
