Contradicting the virus and wanting to close the year 2021 in a big way, in collusion with Red Cloud Teatro de Marionetas, Teatro Dom Roberto insists on entering the Christmas season, instigating the good mood of its audience, inviting them to attend the Espaço Red Cloud Marionetas, in Aveiro, on the 20th, 21st, 22th, 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th of December, not forgetting the common care and restrictions that prevail on these days: mandatory masks or visors (according to Decree-Law 104/ 2021, of 27/November) for the entire public (children included), limitation and spacing of the public by groups.
By the hand and wazzle of the actress and puppeteer Sara Henriques and the making of puppets by Rui Rodrigues, O Barbeiro and A Tourada, make up the repertoire presented in about 30 minutes, inviting audiences of all ages to immerse themselves in this art recognized as intangible cultural heritage , still in the present year.

And what happened in these last days?
After the closing of Motus Imago – Showcase of Shapes, Puppets and Things in Motion, 1st edition Warmup 2021-online, where over 8 consecutive days we watched differentiated works in the area of puppet theater, animation cinema and short video scenes:
- 10 shows, 6 of which took place in Live Streaming, from Espaço Red Cloud Marionetas and from many other parts of the world.
- 56 short films in total in the animation and video cinema categories.
- 16 different nationalities
- 9 conversations with artists
- 1 Masterclass (in person and online from the Aveiro Library)
- 2 multi-session workshops (face-to-face at the Red Cloud Marionetas Space and online)
It was a marathon we are very proud of being responsible for. We will soon release a final teaser for this edition. However, don’t forget that you can still watch some conversations with artists.
The contest included animation and video shorts.

And Touring?
This is a section of our activity that we highly value, were it not for the opportunity to travel the territory from end to end and share the various perspectives of puppet theatre, whether in its traditional version, such as Teatro Dom Roberto that was on the day November 28 at the Museu da Marioneta de Lisboa within the scope of the “Marathon of Robertos” or in a multiformat version such as Arabesco a piece created from the tales of Edgar Allan Poe that was in Alcanena, on November 3 at the Cine Teatro São Pedro, in within the scope of the Festival Manobras, promoted by Artemrede.
Next December 18th is the day of Version 1.0 de Between People in the streets of Viseu. And we say more, we are finishing Version 1.3… Very soon we will have news…
The show A Menina Que Vendia Fósforos , was scheduled for December as well, but the demarcations that leave the artistic community in immense desolation have already resumed, as in last year… We hope that those responsible for organizing the events and hiring companies and artists, use common sense to deal with this destabilizing reality of the sensitive sphere in which the sector normally finds itself.
